§ 14-232. License application.

  • Any person desiring to engage in any of the activities mentioned in section 14-231 within the city, by going from house to house or place to place, or from any public street or sidewalk, shall make written application, not less than 24 hours before engaging in such business or activity, to the city secretary for a license to do so. Said application shall show the name and address of the applicant, with positive identification of each merchant, vendor, peddler, solicitor or donation seeker, the name and address of the person, firm or corporation, if any, the applicant represents, the kind of goods or services being offered, whether the applicant will demand, accept or receive payment or deposit of money in advance of final delivery of the subject of the sale or order, the license numbers of all vehicles to be used by the licensee, proof of liability insurance, proof of a limited sales tax permit or proof the offered goods or services are not subject to such sales tax, proof of a current health certificate if the goods sold are of edible type, and the period of time the applicant anticipates selling or soliciting within the city. The health certificate requirement shall not apply to sale of candies, nuts or other edibles prepared and packaged by a nationally recognized manufacturer or a state manufacturer meeting standards imposed by state and local health codes, if such packages are unbroken.
